WOLKENTURM
GRAFENEGG CASTLE

MELK ABBEY
Melk Abbey is one of the greatest European Baroque Abbeys. Some might know the abbey from the book "The Name of the Rose", written by Umberto Eco. Melk Abbey is also well known for its fantastic summer concerts, enriching the region’s cultural program.
FREQUENCY FESTIVAL
With 140,000 visitors per year, the FM4 Frequency Festival in St. Pölten is one of the biggest festivals in Austria. For the last 20 years, music fans from all over the world came to St. Pölten to celebrate.
LAXENBURG PALACE PARK

KUNSTMEILE KREMS

On a stretch of just one mile (1.6km) you have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of contemporary art forms in a historical setting. Right at the gateway to the Wachau region.

I had the opportunity to visit Laxenburg Castle and Franzensburg Castle and got an insight into Austrian history with very nice international staff from different companies.

CYCLING WITH KIDS

Along the 25km Danube Cycle Path in the Wachau, you can expect exceptional play and bathing areas, idyllic villages and impressive castle ruins. The cycle tour is suitable for children from the age of six.
BÄRENWALD ARBESBACH
(BEAR FOREST)
BÄRENWALD Arbesbach is a sanctuary run by the animal welfare organisation VIER PFOTEN for bears in need. Here, bears from circuses, zoos and private homes find a natural and animal-friendly home. Nestled in the unspoilt Waldviertel landscape, the BEAR FOREST offers a completely new form of animal observation.
BUCHENBERG NATURE & ADVENTURE PARK
© Picture by A. Plachy: In Austria's largest forest climbing park, visitors can showcase their talent on over 90 different stations, from easy to difficult routes. The highly trained climbing guides guarantee safety and a great experience.
SEMMERING SKIING REGION
© Niederösterreich Werbung / Kathrin Baumann: The ultimate winter experience awaits sport enthusiasts at the Zauberberg Semmering with 6 top slopes suitable for beginners, families, experts, carvers and snowboarders. In summer, visitors can enjoy the forest ropes course, hikes or have a good time in the bike park.
EIBL JET TÜRNITZ
© Picture by Koenig-Schwarz: The most modern and only all-weather toboggan run in Lower Austria was built in 2004. The Alpine Coaster "EIBL Jet Türnitz" is one of the steepest and most attractive toboggan runs. Partially up to 7 metres above the ground, through steep curves, waves and jumps. The EIBL Jet Türnitz, is open even in rainy weather. The toboggans can be equipped with roofs.

Tip: With the ‘Niederösterreich-Card’ (Lower Austria Card) you get free admission to over 300 excursion destinations. The card costs around 60 euros. For more information, please have a look at the website of NÖ-CARD (DE).

NATURE PARK HOHE WAND
© Robert Herbst (pov.at): The Hohe Wand Nature Park extends over 2,000 ha and is a popular destination for animal lovers, families with children, hikers, nature photographers and nature enthusiasts. The various circular hiking trails lead to the most beautiful places with fascinating views. The Hohe Wand flying school also offers tandem flights.
WACHAU REGION
(UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE)

The Wachau is one of the most scenic and diverse cultural regions in Central Europe. The long-distance hiking trail "Welterbesteig" leads past sights such as the baroque monasteries of Melk and Göttweig and the ruins of Aggstein Castle. The region can be explored by bike, on foot while hiking or by boat.

THAYATAL
© Nationalpark Thayatal, R. Mirau: Discover diverse nature in the Thayatal National Park. The National Park preserves one of the last naturally diverse valley landscapes in Central Europe. In a very small area, the Thaya has created habitats and forest types with a surprising diversity. Over 40% of all plant species found in our country and a large number of endangered animal species such as the European wildcat, the black stork and the noble crayfish are at home here.
