From 29 June to 27 August 2023, the Rathausplatz St. Pölten will be transformed into an open-air cinema. From the generously sized stands, you will have an optimal view of the screen and can enjoy the latest films, crowd favourites as well as live events. Before the movie starts, take your time and stroll through the capital of Lower Austria and enjoy dinner or a drink in one of the restaurants or bars.

Cultural enjoyment at the Grafenegg Festival
From 11 August to 3 September 2023, the famous Grafenegg Festival awaits you. In the midst of the castle park, you can enjoy classical concerts of the highest standard on the “Wolkenturm” open-air stage. Visit the wine region Wachau
A trip to the Wachau region is a perfect opportunity to combine nature, culture and culinary delights. After exploring the region, take a short trip to the city of Krems and visit one of the museums there, such as the “Kunsthalle Krems”, where you can view contemporary works of art. Afterwards, be sure to take a boat ride on the Danube and enjoy the view of hills, vineyards and castles. To round off the day perfectly, visit a traditional Heuriger. There you can taste regional wines and specialties like the “Brettljause”. Throughout the summer, numerous events take place in the Wachau, especially on weekends. Check them out to plan the perfect trip.

Soaking up the summer heat on the most beautiful lakes
Lower Austria has numerous lakes to offer, where you can enjoy the upcoming summer days. One of the most popular destinations is the “Ottensteiner Stausee”. Whether you want to hike along the lake shore, rent a boat, swim, surf or fish, the Ottenstein Reservoir is the ideal destination for the whole family due to its variety of opportunities. Second, the “Lunzer See” is the only natural lake in Lower Austria with crystal clear water in the middle of a beautiful mountain panorama. An annual summer festival on the lake offers a wide range of cultural activities (14 – 29 July 2023). Last but not least there is the beautiful mountain lake “Erlaufsee”, which is located at the border to Styria. The lake does not get any warmer than 21 degrees, but is therefore the perfect place to cool off after a hike or bike ride in the region.

As you can see, Lower Austria is buzzing with summer activities and events. Whether you’re seeking outdoor adventures, cultural discoveries or family experiences, Lower Austria has it all. To plan trips or to find more current events, take a look at the Niederösterreich website.
